Purpose

The Trinity College Kandy Class of 1993 Scholarship Foundation (TCK93SF) is a volunteer non-profit alumni organization which provides merit-based philanthropic assistance to eligible students of Trinity College, Kandy (TCK).

The foundation currently provides full funding for the H. I. Ratnayake Memorial Scholarship (HIRMS), which is awarded to the recipient of the Games All-Round Excellence award at the annual TCK Middle School Prize Giving (grades 6-9). The HIRMS covers tuition fees for the recipient to attend TCK for three consecutive years as long as he continues enrollment as a full-time student maintaining good academic and disciplinary standing. A brief history of the HIRMS and TCK93SF is provided on the About page.

In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of the HIRMS, monetary donations (gifts) are welcome anytime and may be submitted according to the instructions on the Donate page.

Current Scholarship Winner

We are happy to confirm that Sadhil Ranaweera ’24 was awarded the HIRMS for 2019 even though the corresponding Middle School Prize Giving was not held in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  He was re-awarded the HIRMS for 2020 (second year) and 2021 (third year), but the corresponding Upper School Prize Givings (which should have been held in 2021 and 2022 respectively), were also not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since almost all sports activities were suspended at Trinity College during the COVID-19 pandemic, there was no basis for awarding the annual Games All-Round Excellence award for 2020-2021 and the Middle School Prize Givings were not held.  Therefore, the H. I. Ratnayake Memorial Scholarship (HIRMS) was not newly awarded in 2020 and 2021. We hope that the HIRMS will be awarded at the 2022 Middle School Prize Giving.
